The coaching process
The somatic coaching process blends cognition, body awareness, and movement.
Sessions navigate between:

tuning in with emotions/sensations
building resources through movement
While the number of sessions varies, the overall coaching process always has three distinct phases.
The INITIAL PHASE focuses on setting the stage:
getting to know each other
establishing a safe space
discussing what you want to change in your life
investigating what is holding you back
defining a clear contract – my coaching is goal-oriented
NEXT PHASE focuses on building a bodily foundation.
It is about getting acquainted with your ‘vehicle’ and how it operates
This often includes dropping down from the level of thoughts/stories and becoming aware of your sensations and emotions
You also become aware of your existing skills/resources and learn to use them more consciously
FINALLY, the focus shifts to building the resources that you need to reach your goal. It is time to ‘upgrade’ your ‘vehicle’.
You gain a new experience, relevant to your life goal. For example you feel a new sense of self-worth, get in touch with your power, or are able to set a boundary
Then you learn to sustain this new experience, by repeated practice, through ‘homework’ and applying it in real life. As a result, the new experience transforms into a new skill that you can access at any time
Throughout the entire coaching process, Mutual Connection and Dignity are central.
They are our core drives as human beings, according to Bodynamic.
When we are in connection with others and in alignment with self we grow.

I have experienced a wide variety of healing modalities, and although Catharina held beautiful safe space, the biggest impact from our sessions is that she knew what movements or postures to suggest to create ease in my body, and these would have a direct positive impact on whatever mental or emotional issue I was dealing with. The first session we had, where we were trying to determine whether we were a match for each other, we talked until she had a sense of what my challenge was at that time. She suggested some subtle movements and when I did them, I felt so free and expansive and joyful, I started giggling!
